Julia Stepro's Art Santa Barbara, California
Where the spirit does not work with the hand, there is no art.
Leonardo da Vinci
An artist should never be a prisoner of himself, prisoner of style, prisoner of reputation, prisoner of success.
The chief enemy of creativity is ‘good’ sense.
If you hear a voice within you say 'you cannot paint,' then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced.
Vincent Van Gogh
For my part I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream.

Born and raised in Siberia, Russia I was always fascinated by art but had limited opportunity to get involved with it until after I moved to America. In America I was very blessed and thankful for the opportunities to study and practice art.
I started to take art classes in the community college, joined the Desert Art League and took numerous workshops. For over 12 years I took workshops with Howard Rees, Fran Nichols, Richard McKinley, Desmond O’Hagan, Lian Zhen, Roland Lee, and many others. Currently I am regularly studying with Fran Nichols, http://www.frannicholsart.com/, an Impressionist artist from Los Angeles, CA.
I work in 3 Media: WATERCOLOR, OIL and PASTEL and enjoy each of them. I see the art as an expression of who I am. It is an evolving process which others can also enjoy. I believe everyone is an artist whether they use paint or something else, and creating is a big part of fulfillment, satisfaction and enjoyment in life.
